What is hyaluron pen?
A newcomer in the beauty industry, the hyaluron pen is just a device for transferring liquid and has actually been around for a few decades but with a very different use, inserting insulin in the skin for diabetics. After scientific experiments, this device was used to shoot hyaluronic acid into the lips and face without the need for a needle.
Ideal for people that are frightened or uncomfortable with needles, this pain free treatment is less invasive, fast and allows you to have plump, natural looking lips and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
How does it work?
The pen uses air pressure that is strong enough to deliver a liquid mixture of hyaluronic acid in minuscule molecules through the skin. Perfect for lip enhancements and reducing wrinkles.
The hyaluronic acid only reaches the dermis (upper layer of skin) making this a safe treatment with no risk of blockage to blood vessels since the pen doesn't have a sharp tip to puncture them. Not to mention, filler with a needle can be very painful and cause trauma to the skin that can actually result in scar tissue.
The hyaluronic acid used is not permanent although it is a buildable procedure that enables you to achieve your desired look.
As the procedure is non invasive, the risk of bruising and swelling is also extremely low unlike fillers using injections.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is the main structural element of connective tissue and a natural sugar found in the human body. It is the most hydrating substance in the world and loves to bind with water molecules, often being able to bind up to hundreds of times its own weight, hence its function is to attract water and keep skin hydrated, plump and youthful. Unfortunately, the ability to be able to retain water decreases over time as we age and the collagen fibres dry up and become thinner, resulting in loss of hydration and elasticity. This causes the skin to loosen and the formation of wrinkles. By adding hyaluronic acid into the skin we revive the collagen, providing hydration, rejuvenating the skin and promoting a fresher, more youthful look.
The human body creates hyaluronic acid naturally so it is impossible to be allergic to it. Additionally, the “cross-linking” process of the hyaluronic acid gives longevity to the substance, typically three to seven months unlike the hyaluronic acid we produce naturally which typically only has a life span of two to four days.
In any case, whatever filler a therapist may use, you don't want it to stay inside the skin forever, so the fact you need to have a refill every four to six months or so to keep your desired look is a good thing.
Why haven't I heard about this procedure before and is it safe?
The technology is nothing new in the device itself as it's been used for inserting insulin for years. However, since 2018 it has been used as a beauty tool to fill wrinkles and lips.
Problems with injections come from blocked blood vessels to which a filler has been injected. With the hyaluron pen, it is impossible to inject a substance, thus there is no such risk and is totally safe. Thousands of people are using it all over the world. In a way, it is a simple moisturiser to the upper layer of skin (dermis) that can also be used to enhance the shape and thickness of lips and reduce wrinkles.
The real difference between a potential disaster and an excellent result are the skills of the therapist to shape the lips in a natural and beautiful way and the quality of the filler. At Face Radiance, the hyaluronic acid mixture we use is highly purified and is of non animal origin, non carcinogenic and non toxic.
You get what you pay for and if the hyaluronic acid used by a therapist is much cheaper than quality brands or they get it for nothing, you will get exactly that when it comes to the result of your treatment they provide. Another reason the procedure may be cheaper is because the therapist is not qualified. So the cheapest treatment is not the best and a risky decision to take.
What is the difference between Botox and fillers?
Botox is injected and freezes the muscles by temporarily cutting off the nerve signals to stop creases and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It is never injected into lips. The results last from three to four months.
Fillers use hyaluronic acid or similar substances to “fill in” or plump areas that have lost volume and smoothness. This includes wrinkles and thin lips that have lost fullness. Filler results vary, depending on which filler is used. Face Radiance use a high quality form of hyaluronic acid and expect our results to last three to seven months dependant upon your aftercare.
What is the difference between the hyaluron pen and filler injections?
Filler injections can have a large effect on the overall look of the human face. The thicker the filler is, the deeper it is injected and the effect is usually permanent.
The hyaluron pen fillers that can be used are very liquid and can only be inserted to the upper layer of skin (dermis) with the hyaluronic acid dispersing naturally over a period of three to seven months depending on the quality of the filler and aftercare. Anyone advertising longer is not being honest as the treatment cannot last due to the nature of how the liquid is inserted and dispersed into the outer layer of skin (epidermis).
Is it better than the plasma pen?
The plasma pen is primarily used to revitalise the skin and when it comes to filling the lips, it is pretty much useless. The hyaluron pen technique of increasing the hyaluronic acid content of the skin to reduce wrinkles or increase the thickness of lips works better, giving the plumping and volumising effect.
Is the hyaluron pen suitable for everyone?
All potential clients of Face Radiance are required to complete a health questionnaire to assess compatibility for hyaluron pen treatment. The procedure most definitely can not be done to pregnant women. The hyaluronic acid we use at Face Radiance contains Lidocaine so anyone that suffers from an allergy to this substance would also not be suitable for treatment.
Is this all too good to be true?
First of all, you have to be realistic when it comes to your expectations of the results and this is what Face Radiance will guide you through.
Good results can be achieved to different areas of the face. Face Radiance offer a fully qualified therapist and use a high quality filler giving excellent results. It must be reiterated that only trained professionals should do the treatment so if you decide not to use Face Radiance and choose another outlet, please check the qualification of the therapist and quality of the hyaluronic acid they use. The ingredient list may not match the actual content of the product, for example, it may be animal based, or have a lower hyaluronic acid concentration so will not have any affect, or in worst cases, even be toxic.
