No matter how much mascara you layer on, sometimes lashes just need an extra boost. And while extensions and falsies are always an option, they also require far more maintenance. Hence, the lash lift. This procedure instantly gives lashes lift, separation and extra definition without the use of extensions or any harmful chemicals.
If you like your natural lashes and just want a more wide eyed, natural look and skip mascara, a lash lift and tint is a great choice for you. And the good news is, a lift can actually help your lashes as eyelash curlers and the action of removing mascara every night are damaging to natural lashes. With a lift, you can avoid all that and let your lashes grow long and strong.
Furthermore, as glamorous and fluffy as extensions are, they also require a huge commitment to maintain them as they need to be filled every two to three weeks. A lift also takes half as long as extensions, a lash lift and tint takes about an hour, where as extensions can take anywhere from two to three hours. You also have to be incredibly gentle with extensions when washing your face, sleeping and doing your makeup to avoid shedding.
What exactly is a lash lift?
A lash lift essentially takes the natural hair you do have lining your eyelid and gives them a lift with a dramatic curl so that it looks like you're wearing a great mascara.
How does a lash lift work?
Using medical grade glue to temporarily affix a silicone rod onto your eyelid, the tips of your lashes are glued to the rod to create the shape for the curl, followed by a layer of lifting serum. After a time, the lifting serum is wiped off and followed with a setting solution. At this point, a colour tint can be applied to the lashes to give a more dramatic look and then your lashes are unglued.
In all it takes about an hour from start to finish.
How long does a lash lift and tint last?
A lift lasts anywhere from six to eight weeks and unlike extensions, you can rub your eyes, wear makeup and your natural lashes are not affected. The only time you have to be careful with a lash lift, as with extensions, is for the first two days following your treatment in order for the lashes to totally set.
After about six to to eight weeks, which is the natural growth cycle of your lashes, you will start to notice the curled lashes disappearing as your new set of lashes start to replace the curled ones. The tint will fade at about three weeks.
Is a lash lift painful or dangerous?
Because your lashes are glued down, you cannot really feel anything that is happening to them and there is little risk of the chemicals getting in your eyes.
There is no discomfort and generally no irritation experienced after the treatment unlike with lash extensions.
